SDDB is now being used by the ERAG for its annual model building task. SDDB is also well suited for similar model building work at different levels for grid reliability coordination.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\tApplication Scope\n\t\t\t\t<p>SDDB is designed to host dynamic models for use in building cases for power system studies.<\/p>\n<p>SDDB is a cloud based service that supports:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Secure dynamic model hosting and backup<\/li>\n<li>Automatic data validation<\/li>\n<li>Multi-user accessibility<\/li>\n<li>Data auditing<\/li>\n<li>Usage tracing<\/li>\n<li>High availability<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>SDDB is capable of:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Importing and exporting dynamics data in PSS\/E format<\/li>\n<li>Uploading, validating, viewing, modifying, and downloading dynamics data<\/li>\n<li>Matching powerflow cases with dynamic models<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/powertechlabs.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/powertech-sddb-figure-1-300x203.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"466\" height=\"315\" \/><\/p>\n\t\t\t\tProduct Features\n\t\t\t\t<ul>\n<li>User-friendly graphical web interface <\/li>\n<li>Secure dynamic model data hosting and backup<\/li>\n<li>Automatic data validation<\/li>\n<li>Multi-user accessibility<\/li>\n<li>Data auditing and usage tracing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\t\t\t\tUser Authorization Levels\n\t\t\t\t<p>In SDDB, users are categorized into three levels of authority to ensure a structured flow of data:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>System Administrator (SA): manages SDDB and backend issues<\/li>\n<li>Regional Administrator (RA): manages and validates dynamic models submitted by their members<\/li>\n<li>Area Administrator (AA): submits dynamic models pertaining to their control areas<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Such user authorization levels can be customized to suit for specific applications.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/powertechlabs.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/powertech-sddb-ieeex1-exciter-model-300x72.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"168\" \/><\/p>\n\t\t\t\tProcess Flow\n\t\t\t\t<p>In general, SDDB maintains a downward flow of authorization from SA to AA and an upward flow of data for model formulation from AA to SA.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The typical model-building process includes four stages: <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Stage 1:<\/strong> AA submits new dynamic models (or changes to existing models) under their jurisdictions to SDDB<\/li>\n<li><strong>Stage 2:<\/strong> concerned RAs are notified via emails; RAs review the new models (or model changes) submitted and approve\/reject accordingly<\/li>\n<li><strong>Stage 3:<\/strong> approved new models (or model changes) from Stage 2 are added to the database.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Stage 4:<\/strong> upon demand, SA requests SDDB to create a dynamic model set that matches a provided powerflow case<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\t\t\t\tUser Interface\n\t\t\t\t<p>One of the user-friendly features of SDDB is its ability to show dynamic model details including model diagrams. Users can identify parameters of a model visually from its diagram and make changes easily.<\/p>\n<p>Users can enter or edit dynamic models from a large library including various types of components:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Generator and its controls<\/li>\n<li>Wind turbines and other renewable generators<\/li>\n<li>Shunt (including SVC\/STATCOM)<\/li>\n<li>Load (including
